Opened in 1985, SCF Venice is a 100-acre campus on South Tamiami Trail that is an equal distance from Venice, Englewood and North Port. The unique location boasts many nearby attractions for students and visitors alike including Spring Training games for the Atlanta Braves at Cool Today Park, hiking at Deer Prairie Creek Preserve or adventuring on the Myakka River. Visitors and community members can view nature up close while exercising or relaxing along Lake Jervey's scenic walking trail.
As a full-service campus, SCF Venice offers a complete line of courses, with nearly 3,000 students enrolled in classes on campus and online. It offers a full A.S. in Nursing program and is also the hub for SCF’s Honors Program, Gator Engineering at SCF, A.S. in Engineering Technology and Construction Management and SCFCS Venice – a premier collegiate school where students can graduate simultaneously with their high school diploma and an associate in arts degree. Collegiate School students can access the library, cafe, The SCF Store, study areas and advising services.
Student Unions are the core of nearly every college campus and Building 500 at SCF Venice is no different. It houses the Student Government Association, Student Life and a varied roster of student clubs.
The Sarah H. Pappas Professional Development Center sits at the entrance of the campus in building 800. This 38,101 square-foot building features classrooms, computer laboratories, a nursing wing and laboratory, a multipurpose area and offices for Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development programs. Building 800 and surrounding cottages are also home to SCFCS Venice activities. The Environmental Education Center, building 1400, provides a relaxing oasis for students to hang out at the covered picnic tables and swing in the hammocks under the trees. Students can also access a multi-purpose sports court located adjacent to the Collegiate School. And, centrally positioned on campus is the performance pavilion, which showcases outdoor performances and events, such as the SCF Foundation’s annual “Evening Under the Stars,” and serves as a gathering space for the College and community.
SCF Venice also held a groundbreaking ceremony in November 2022 for the science and technology building – the first new construction on SCF’s south county campus since 1995. The new structure will significantly improve and expand science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education opportunities for students at SCF Venice and is projected to open during Spring 2024.
