SCF Mathematics Department Scholarship Award Applications

(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 6, 2025) — The mathematics department at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) is accepting applications for the Memorial Award and Initium Award from SCF students who show outstanding performance in mathematics. Both awards include scholarship money. Students can access the application form and information at SCF.edu. All applications must be submitted by Thursday, Feb. 20.
Memorial Award applications should be emailed to Kim Ghiselin, SCF professor of mathematics, at GhiselK@SCF.edu, or be mailed or hand-delivered to State College of Florida Mathematics Department, 5840 26th St. W., Building 27, Bradenton, FL 34207. Initium Award applications should be emailed to Kathleen Gibson-Dee, SCF associate professor of mathematics, at GibsonK@SCF.edu, or be mailed or hand-delivered to State College of Florida Mathematics Department, 5840 26th St. W., Building 27, Bradenton, FL 34207.
The Memorial Award is given to one or two SCF students who have achieved academic success in mathematics at SCF in honor of the service of late, distinguished SCF mathematics faculty members. A single recipient will receive $800, or two recipients will receive $400 each in scholarship funding, and have their name(s) engraved on a plaque displayed in the mathematics department.
The Initium Award is given to two SCF students who have achieved academic success in mathematics before taking college courses at SCF. Each recipient will receive $400 in scholarship funding.
Award winners will be recognized at the SCF Honors Convocation in April.
