Eight SCF Employees Win National Excellence Awards

(Bradenton, Fla., July 3, 2024) — Eight employees at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) have won National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Awards. More than 1,100 faculty, administrators and staff from 191 community and technical colleges across North America were nominated by their peers for the awards recognizing their extraordinary work.
SCF award winners include:
- Dr. Kristen Anderson, program director, TRIO Student Support Services
- Matthew Britten, laboratory assistant, natural science
- Eric Cintron, associate professor, language and literature
- Lori Duncan, academic department secretary, academics
- Arturo Mancillas, trades worker III, HVAC/mechanical, facilities, planning and maintenance
- Theresa Smith-Ennis, librarian, library
- Katy Wallis, associate professor, natural science
- Susanne Walters, assistant dean of students, dean of students
NISOD presented medallions and certificates to award recipients at its 46th Annual International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence in Austin, Texas. Dr. Kristen Anderson was one of five SCF award winners who attended the conference, which focused on connecting colleagues for professional development. Attendees participated in educational sessions and exchanged new ideas on teaching and learning.
“The conference was amazing,” said Anderson. “It showcased the best of what community and technical colleges are about—providing meaningful opportunities for individuals who want to improve their knowledge, skills and circumstances.”
