SCF Student Participating in a National Museum Anthropological Archives Internship

(Bradenton, Fla., June 12, 2024) State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) student Brittany Marshall Davis is working on an anthropological archival independent research project during a 10-week summer internship at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. Davis plans to pursue a career in a science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) field through support from SCF’s TRIO Student Support Services and Tampa Bay Bridge to Baccalaureate programs which provides access to internship and research opportunities.

As a Natural History Research Experiences program intern, Davis receives mentorship from the museum’s anthropology department, a stipend, dormitory housing, travel support, and days for science talks, collection tours and other activities. Her research focuses on assessing Central African artwork and audiovisual and textual materials of documented communities that have historically experienced cross-cultural conflict. The project aims to create an updated and legible subject guide for communities. The internship runs through August 2.
