Our students have gone out into the field and participated in internships at Mote Marine Labatory & Aquarium and presented research to scientists on Marine Life, worked with Sarasota Bay researching Seagrass in Sarasota and took part in Undergraduate Research experiences in Robotics and Natural Dye Sensitized Solar Cells. Our students have met with researchers at Mote Marine, at conferences, and through undergraduate research experiences offered through the program.

The National Science Foundation has awarded the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) grant to a consortium of three institutions on Florida’s Gulf Coast which include St. Petersburg College, Hillsborough Community College and State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota. The purpose of the Tampa Bay Bridge to Baccalaureate (TB-B2B) program is to increase the number of underrepresented minority (URM) students completing a bachelor’s degree in a STEM program.
Eligibility Requirements
- Be a currently enrolled student at SCF
- Be an underrepresented minority (African-American, Alaskan Native, American Indian/Native American, Hawaiian Native, Hispanic/Latino, and Native Pacific Islander). However, all students are encouraged to join the program as there is something for everyone!
- Plan to pursue a STEM bachelor’s degree
- Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA
- Meet regularly with the Student Success Coordinator
- Participate in B2B events each semester
