The Early College Program at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) allows qualified high school students to enroll in selected college courses to satisfy high school graduation requirements and the associate degree. In accordance with s. 1009.25, F.S., the College does not charge dual enrollment, early admission and accelerated dual enrollment students tuition and certain fees.
Enrollment Process Deadlines
The enrollment process is a multi-step process that takes several weeks to complete.

Early College Program Options
Dual Enrollment enables qualified public, private, and home education students to enroll in selected college credit courses offered by SCF. Credits earned count toward both a college degree and a high school diploma. Students may enroll in up to 11 credit hours per semester in Fall and Spring and up to 6 credit hours during Summer.
Early Admission is a form of dual enrollment that enables qualified 12th grade high school students to spend their senior year enrolled at SCF. Students accepted for Early Admission take all their classes at SCF and must register for at least four classes totaling 12-15 credit hours per semester for Fall and Spring and up to 6 credit hours for Summer. Credits count toward a high school diploma and an associate degree.
Accelerated Dual Enrollment is open to Sarasota and Manatee public high school students only. The Accelerated Dual Enrollment program allows qualified rising juniors to gain college credit and high school credit by attending SCF full-time. The students will continue full-time at SCF as seniors and are on track to graduate with their high school diploma and potentially an AA degree from SCF. Students accepted for Accelerated Dual Enrollment must register for at least four classes totaling 12-15 credit hours per semester each Fall and Spring and up to 6 credit hours for Summer between junior and senior year. Please note, students must begin this program during the fall semester of their junior year.
How to Enroll
Public School Students
Complete the Early College Application. After the application is processed the student will receive a welcome email with their SCF credentials. If you are a continuing Early College student, you will not be required to complete a new application. Applications are valid for three semesters. If you have taken classes as a non-degree student you will be required to complete a new Early College application and contract.
Once you have access to your SCF email, it is important that you check it regularly. College communications will be sent to your SCF student email, not your personal email. In addition, you must use your SCF email when communicating with Early College and other SCF departments. You can get to your SCF email by logging into MySCF and clicking on the email link located next to your name and above your Student Profile.
Students must submit official college placement scores in Reading, Writing and Mathematics to enroll in college credit courses. Approved tests include the ACT, SAT, and PERT (Florida’s Postsecondary Education Readiness Test). Scores may not be more than 24 months old. PERT testing for Early College purposes may be taken only once per term and no more than twice per calendar year.

An Early College application must be submitted before completing the Early College contract. Log in credentials (provided in the Welcome Email) and a valid parent email are required to complete the contract.
Students may check the status of their contract by visiting the My.SCF.edu portal. Contract holds will not be lifted until qualifying test scores are received. Contracts may take up to 48 business hours to be processed once all parties have submitted their approval.

Upon satisfactory completion of the previous steps, registration will be available to students through the MYSCF portal. Students may register only for courses that are listed on their chosen pathway and have been approved by their high school counselor. It is highly recommended that students register for full-term courses.
For assistance registering, please visit the Office of College and Career Success. If you plan to meet with an SCF success coach, be sure you know which high school requirements still need to be met. Your success coach can help you select courses that count toward the AA but will not advise you on courses needed to complete high school graduation requirements.
Once registered, students are required to submit their SCF schedule to their high school counselor. The high school counselor must also be notified of any changes made to the SCF schedule.
Public school students should follow instructions provided by their high school to obtain required (not optional) textbooks for their approved courses. Textbook requests for all parts of term need to be submitted prior to the enrollment process deadline (Spring: December 1 and Summer/Fall: May 15) to ensure timely arrival.

Sarasota County or Manatee County homeschool students only. PEP students must be registered with a Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) approved scholarship-funding organization (SFO).

Homeschool students must submit a county verification letter from their respective counties (Sarasota county or Manatee county) each year. This letter is required to register. No exceptions. Please email the county verification letter to earlycollege@scf.edu.
PEP students must be registered with a Scholarship Funding Organization (SFO). Please log into your dashboard and email a screenshot a screenshot of your award details to earlycollege@scf.edu. This screenshot is required to register. No exceptions.

Students interested in an Early College program should initiate the enrollment process with their high school counselor and/or home school liaison, as high school graduation requirements must be verified prior to registration. Dual Enrollment enables qualified public, private, homeschool, and PEP students to enroll in selected college credit courses offered by SCF. Early Admission is a form of dual enrollment wherein qualified public, private, homeschool, and PEP senior students enroll at SCF on a full-time basis not to exceed 15 credit hours for Fall and Spring and up to 6 credit hours during the Summer. Students must register for a minimum of 12 credit hours.
Qualified students must meet the following criteria:
• 3.0 unweighted high school GPA (Dual Enrollment/ Early Admission), 3.3 unweighted high school GPA (Accelerated Dual Enrollment).
• Qualifying placement test scores in Reading, Writing and/or Math.
• Approval of high school counselor or home school liaison.
• Parent/guardian approval.
• Enrolled in a school or organization that has a formal Articulation Agreement with SCF for the Early College Program.
Students who earn less than a “C” in a course or withdraw or are withdrawn from a course will not be eligible to participate in the following dual enrollment semester.

The Accelerated Dual Enrollment Program (ADE) is a form of dual enrollment through which eligible public high school students in grades 11 and 12 enroll at SCF on a full-time basis. This accelerated option allows the student to concurrently complete high school and college credits by attending classes at SCF. This program provides students with the opportunity to simultaneously earn an Associate in Arts degree. This program is available to Manatee and Sarasota County public school students only.
ADE required materials:
• Completed Early College Application
• Passing scores in Reading, Writing, and Math within the last two years of application to the program. If taken at SCF, scores are not required to be submitted. Scores must be submitted at the time of application.
• Successfully completed high school English I, English II, Algebra I and passed Algebra I end-of course (EOC) or a comparative score on the Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (state assessment requirement), Geometry with passed EOC and passed Grade 10 ELA state assessment or ACT/SAT with concordant score.
• Strongly encouraged to have completed high school World History and HOPE prior to beginning the program.
• SCF Online Orientation. Link can be found in the welcome email provided by SCF.
• Early College Contract on file with SCF.
Not necessarily. The Early College programs provide an opportunity to take challenging courses in an accelerated environment. Students who successfully complete Early College program courses will save time toward their college degree. However, the amount of work necessary to succeed in college-level courses may be much greater than in high school courses. In addition, Early College program courses become a part of a student’s permanent college transcript and will impact eligibility for financial aid and admission to other postsecondary institutions. Students should consider future plans when deciding if Early College is right for them.
