Virtual Tutoring Information

For Virtual Tutoring, you must have a microphone, internet access, and use Chrome web browser. This program does work with your smart phone (though the assistance may be harder to see from a small screen.)

To log on:

  1. Click on the tutor's name you want to talk to. (Look at their schedule and subjects covered!)
  2. A page will open asking you to download OR to use Teams on the web. You may choose either. (If you are using your phone it will require you to download the app)
  3. If you entered on your browser, you will enter your name and click "Join Now". If you are using Teams you will be asked to sign in using your SCF email address and password.
  4. You will then go into a wait room and the tutor will let you in as soon as they are available. Sometimes we have multiple tutors on for the same subject. If you're waiting for one, you can try to pop into another waiting room to see if they're available.

Mission Statement

The Academic Resource Center (ARC) empowers all State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota students to achieve their personal potential for learning and academic success. The core mission of the ARC is to help students become independent and active learners, thereby achieving academic improvement consistent with their values, interests, and abilities. The ARC serves as a means to help under-prepared students to prepare, prepared students to advance, and advanced students to excel!

The ARC does this by providing high-quality instructional support that is appropriate to an academically diverse population. This includes One-on-One Tutoring for Math and Science; Writing Conferences; Developmental Skills Labs for Mathematics and Content-specific Workshops and Test Reviews. The ARC also offers a comfortable study atmosphere where students can work on their own, meet with their classmates or professors, and utilize the lab computers, study rooms, and other resources -- all with the support of on demand ARC tutoring.

ARC Manager

Rebecca Caskey oversees the ARCs on all three campuses. Please feel free to call or email her with inquiries or concerns. Tutor email addresses can be found on the campus staff pages.
