Family Guardianship Training
With approval from the 12th Judicial Court, the course meets requirements for Florida's guardianship training. Content includes legal duties, guardian responsibilities, rights of incapacitated ward and availability of local resources. A written test is required.
Family Guardianship (Online)
For students that live out of state that have been court appointed as a guardian of a family member in the state of Florida. With approval from the 12th Judicial Court, the course meets requirements for Florida's guardianship training. Content includes legal duties, guardian responsibilities, rights of incapacitated ward. This course is completely online and includes an online test.
Guardian ad Litem Program
Become a child advocate. Represent an abused, abandoned or neglected child in the court. Volunteers receive 30 hours of training to become certified child advocates. Application and pre-interview required. The Guardian ad Litem program is a non-profit organization. A Guardian ad Litem (GAL) is appointed by the court to advocate for a child. Most of these children have been removed from their homes because of alleged abuse, abandonment or neglect. The GAL becomes familiar with the child and the child's case and makes recommendations to the court to help ensure a safe, caring, stable and permanent environment.
