Institutional Effectiveness
State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) embraces the use of planning and assessment at all levels, for each program and service, for each department and employee as well as institution-wide. Our ongoing cycle of improvement includes the frequent evaluation of our processes, programs, services and outcomes, including student learning outcomes. Analysis of assessment results leads to initiatives which promote and enhance student success and that address community needs.
The Office of Institutional Effectiveness, led by the Dean for Institutional Effectiveness and Research, supports collaborative college-wide planning. It also guides the institutional effectiveness and data analysis process, disseminating the results to appropriate constituents. In conjunction with the Office of Institutional Reporting, it supports data collection and analysis as well as the compilation of information regarding SCF’s effectiveness. The Office of Institutional Effectiveness also provides coordination, guidance and support for the reaffirmation process in addressing the Principles of Accreditation promulgated by SCF’s accrediting agency, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
The SCF Office of Institutional Research, the Resource Development Department, Early College Programs, Institutional Reporting, and the SCF Institutional Review Board all report to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.

SCF Receives SACS Reaffirmation Accreditation until 2025
June 11, 2015
State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) has received official notification from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS) that the institution has received reaffirmation of accreditation for a full 10 years with no sanctions.
The full accreditation without sanctions is the highest rating that an educational institution can achieve from the regional accrediting body.
A team from SACS met with College employees in October and reviewed reams of documentation compiled by college staff during a rigorous, yearlong preparation.
“Accreditation is key to maintaining our credibility and position in the higher education arena of our region and state,” said SCF President Dr. Carol Probstfeld. “This is what distinguishes us as a state institution and ensures our students that their degree has value and recognition.”
Accreditation by SACS also ensures easy transfer of students’ courses to other institutions, and makes SCF eligible for financial aid that is disbursed annually to SCF’s students
