A.S. Nursing Basic Program - Spring 2024
Application Information and Instructions

The A.S. Nursing Basic program at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota is a limited enrollment program.  Completion of all or part of the academic courses required for the degree does not guarantee acceptance to the Nursing program.  The program does not utilize a wait list.  Students must apply/reapply during a nursing application period.  If there are more qualified applicants than seats in the program, the policy and procedure on admission requirements and selection process will be followed.  The following list of information and instructions has been provided to assist students in the application process to the A.S. Nursing Basic program.  It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that each step mentioned below is completed by the application deadline and that all information provided during the application process is accurate.

Important Information About Communications from SCF

All communication from SCF to nursing program applicants will be done through your SCF studnent email account.  Please make sure your SCF student email account is active!  Monitor your SCF student email account so that you do not miss any pertinent information regarding your application status.

Apply to one program only.                      

Step 1:  Apply to State College of Florida, Sarasota-Manatee

The Spring 2024 Basic Nursing program application (Days or Evenings/Weekend) will be open August 1-August 28.  
  • Complete all steps required for admission to the college as a degree seeking student.
  • Click HERE for application to SCF.  
  • If three or more consecutive semesters have passed since enrollment at SCF, student must reapply to the college.
  • Order official transcripts early! It takes 3-6 weeks for transcripts to arrive and be evaluated.
    • This process must be complete by the nursing application deadline.

Step 2:  Once accepted to the college, a student will be able to apply to the A.S. Nursing Basic program if they have met the following minimum criteria:

The four prerequisite courses must be completed, with grades posted, by the application deadline, AND applicants must have a minimum Prerequisite GPA of 3.0* or better in these four courses.

Earned GPA of 2.75 or better in all pre-nursing coursework (prerequisites and general academic requirements combined).

Step 3:  Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) exam requirements: 

  • TEAS deadline for the Spring 2024 Basic Nursing Program is August 28.
  • The TEAS Total Score must be within, or above, the Proficient Level of Academic Preparedness score range: 58.7% - 77.3%.
  • All four (4) sections of the TEAS exam (Reading, English, Math and Science) must be taken during the same exam time.
  • TEAS Version 7 exams are good for three (3) years.
  • Qualified TEAS Version 6 exams will be accepted until August 28, 2023.
    • If you have taken the TEAS exam at another institution, you must purchase an official TEAS transcript and have it sent to SCF by the TEAS deadline.  SCF must receive the TEAS Transcript by the TEAS deadline.
    • TEAS transcripts are ordered and paid for through ATI Testing.
    • Visit www.atitesting.com and log in.
    • Go to the ATI Online Store and select “TEAS Transcript”
    • Proceed with the ordering process. Please note this process typically takes 48-72 hours.

Step 4:  Follow these steps to access the A.S. Nursing online application:  

  1. Go to www.scf.edu
  2. Select APPLY NOW
  3. Select Limited Enrollment Admission
  4. Select Associate of Nursing - Basic 
  5. Select either the daytime OR evening/weekend program.
  6. Complete the application.
  7. Complete Payment. The A.S. Nursing-Basic application fee is $35.00 and is non-refundable.  If you previously paid this application fee within the past three (3) years, you will not be required to do so again.  If you have any issues making the payment online, or have any questions regarding this payment, contact Fee Payment/Cashiering at 941-752-5370.  You can visit their office in person (Bradenton or Venice campus).  The nursing application fee is not included in tuition/fee payment plans and is not covered by Financial Aid. Failure to pay the application fee by the application deadline will result in your application being denied. 
  8. Applicants may be prompted to provide additional information during the application process. Requests for additional information will be submitted via the SCF student email address issued to the student upon acceptance to the college.  Students must submit all requested information for the application to be complete. 
  9. All application requirements must be completed by the application deadline or the application will be denied.
  10. Only submit one application.

After Applying

  • Once the complete application has been submitted, the student will receive an email confirming receipt of the application by the college.
  • All email correspondence will be sent to the SCF student email address issued to the student upon acceptance to the college.

Applicants will be notified of their application status by:

  • September 18, 2023

MANDATORY ORIENTATION for ALL conditionally accepted students is:

  • Monday September 25, 2023
