Director of Athletics Leads Student Sports, Teams, and Talent into the Future

(Bradenton, Fla., May 28, 2024) Nicholas “Nick” Cichielo has been hired as the ongoing director of athletics at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF). Cichielo oversees the College’s intramural, baseball, softball, volleyball, and beach volleyball National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) sports programs. He started his career in major league baseball holding video, scouting, and other operational positions.

During his interim time at the College, Cichielo managed coaching and training staff, Title IX compliance, facility maintenance, game activities, athletic scholarships, summer youth camps, fundraising, planning, and new community partnerships. He successfully coordinated the Florida College System Activities Association/NJCAA Region VIII first beach volleyball championship, experienced higher grade point averages achieved among student athletes and significantly improved sports records, and spearheaded a visionary plan to sustain SCF’s athletics going forward.

“We are extremely proud of Nick’s outstanding athletics leadership, service, and accomplishments over the past few years at SCF,” said Dr. Brittany Nielsen, SCF’s vice president of student services and enrollment management. “Nick demonstrates the drive and vision needed to continue to raise our sports programs and student athletes to the next level.”

Cichielo previously worked as an athletics specialist/coordinator at Palm Beach State College and in operations with the Atlanta Braves and Texas Rangers and their minor league teams, other baseball teams, and many future All-Star players. He began his service at SCF as an athletics volunteer disseminating sports information, news, and social media content for teams during the 2017-2018 school year. Cichielo holds a Master of Science degree in collegiate athletic administration from Coker College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in sport management from Lindenwood University. Outside of work, he enjoys playing golf, watching college and professional sports, cooking, and spending time with his family and dog, Jaxon.
