Verification
Verification is a process to confirm information you provided on the FAFSA. If you are selected for verification, SCF will send a request for documentation to your SCF e-mail account.
Requested documents may be IRS Tax Return Transcript, a completed verification worksheet or other documents. Please submit all documents with your Student Name and Student ID written clearly at the top of the page. Do not submit original documents. Make copies of what you submit.
Your file will not be complete until all requested documentation is received and processed by the financial aid services office. The verification process may delay the awarding of financial assistance if corrections need to be submitted to the federal processor.
Why was my file selected for verification?
Selection is by the federal processor or the Institution.
How long does verification take?
SCF verifies the results of your FAFSA on a first received, first completed basis. The longer you wait to submit all the required documentation, the longer verification will take.
Verifications are generally completed within 10 working days from the receipt date of all required documentation.
Why do I need corrections to my financial aid file?
Verification my identify incorrect information submitted on the FAFSA. Incorrect answers may affect aid eligibility. Federal regulations require that certain corrections be made so that appropriate financial assistance can be determined. If corrections are necessary, it can add up to 10 working days to your Verification processing time.
