Graduation and Commencement Ceremony

Spring 2013 Commencement

Please note the location and time changes:

The location of the May 4th Commencement: The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 N. Tamiami Tr., Sarasota

The time of the Commencement - 10 a.m. -- ONE ceremony only.

The Van Wezel's north Sarasota address is a more central location for our students and their families who come from all over the Manatee-Sarasota service district. This spacious auditorium will allow our graduates, their families and our College family to celebrate our graduates' successes together in ONE ceremony!

Only students who applied to graduate by the Spring 2013 deadline (January 25) and are approved will be listed in the commencement program. These students are invited to march provided they submit the online graduation attendance form by Friday, April 5, 2013 to be eligible for four (4) guest tickets. Guests, including all children must have a ticket.

  Outstanding Graduate Award

The Outstanding Graduate Award was developed to recognize a graduating SCF student who has shown superior leadership, academic achievement and community service while attending SCF. Competitive applicants will have demonstrated success in the classroom and have shown a commitment to improve the College and the community at-large.

After Graduation What's Next?

Diplomas/Transcripts

The official degree/certificate is awarded when all graduation requirements are completed including:

• A cumulative and overall grade point average of 2.0 or higher is earned.
• All financial obligations to SCF have been fulfilled.

 Also:

• Transcripts may be requested by the graduate online .
• The fee for each transcript is $7.
• Final transcripts include degree(s) awarded and the date.

Spring Graduate Candidates:

 Official transcripts ordered by May 4, 2013, and marked "Hold until degree/certificate is posted on transcript" and will be mailed within three business days after grades are posted to the student's transcripts, and include degree(s) awarded and the date for those eligible. Diplomas/certificates will be mailed by June 30, 2013.

Financial Aid Information

If you have received federal student loans during yur tenure at SCF, you must complete exit counseling, The website http://www.nslds.ed.gov provides important information about the Federal Family Educational and Direct Loan Student Loan Programs, including estimated payments under various repayment options. Please review the NSLDS website referenced above carefully. Once you have reviewed the information, please complete the required exit counseling at http://www/nslds.ed.gov. If you have any other questions please contact the financial aid office.

If you are continuing your studies toward another degree at SCF you must change your program for the next semester. Since you are graduating in your current program the college will change you to non-degree seeking, unless you request a program change. Be aware this may effect your financial aid eligiblity.
