The Disability Resource Center (DRC) is the focal point for information and services to disabled individuals at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF). The Disability Resource Center is committed to ensuring the access of disabled individuals to all programs, services and activities of the College and to promoting the personal, educational and vocational success of disabled individuals.
SCF is committed to the spirit and the letter of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and has instituted various administrative policies, procedures and practices to provide meaningful access for disabled individuals.
DRC's access services are designed to provide qualified disabled individuals with the necessary auxiliary aids and support staff so that they may enjoy full participation at the College. The provision of certain auxiliary aids and services to college events and activities requires a specific request at least two (2) business days prior to the event.
DRC also provides advocacy and support services to disabled individuals to increase their chances of success and to empower them to reach their full potential. The DRC works with a variety of public and private agencies serving disabled populations in order to facilitate the individual's integration into the main stream of college life. The DRC offers information, advocacy and coordination services. In addition, the DRC offers individualized, personal, academic and vocational guidance to assist disabled individuals in maximizing their potential and pursuing meaningful occupations based on their unique interests, needs and abilities.
Through education, empowerment and self advocacy, disabled individuals have proven themselves to be vital, productive and contributing members of our community. The DRC hopes that the information, resources and links on these pages will assist disabled persons to reach their full potential and will contribute to their full integration.

The DRC advocates for, to empower disabled individuals, through the provision of information, services, and skill development (problem-solving, self-advocacy, etc.) to reach their full personal, academic and vocational potential.
LEGAL MANDATE "No otherwise qualified individual with a disability in the United States…shall, solely by reason of his or her disability, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance". (Section 504 or the Rehabilitation Act of 1973)
"Subject to the provisions of this title, no qualified individual with a disability shall, by reason of such disability, be excluded from participation in or be denied the benefits of the services, programs, or activities of a public entity, or be subjected to discrimination by such entity." (Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act).
