(07-28-2016) SCF, Manatee-Sarasota Collects More Than 60 Uniforms for Upcoming Exhibit
The Fine Art Gallery at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) is being transformed to honor working women. Curators have gathered more than 60 uniforms for the coming exhibit: Art of the Costume: Working Women in Uniform.
The exhibit opens with a reception 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 26, which is National Women's Equity Day, at SCF's Fine Art Gallery, Building 11 at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W.
(07-26-2016) SCF, Manatee-Sarasota to Offer Enrolled Agent Course, Exams
-- State College of Florida, Manatee Sarasota (SCF) will offer an enrolled agent course for tax preparers. Classes begin in August at SCF Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Parkway East.
Enrolled agent status is the highest credential the IRS awards. Enrolled agents, like attorneys and certified public accountants (CPAs), have broad practice rights.
(07-26-2016) SCF, Manatee-Sarasota to Host "Welcome Back Bash"
State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host a "Welcome Back Bash" featuring music, food and campus tours.
The event, which is open to the public, will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 16 at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W. It also will be an opportunity for new students to get their IDs and parking passes.
(07-21-2016) SCF, Manatee-Sarasota Nursing Department Benefits From Plantation Grant
The nursing department at State College of Florida, Manatee Sarasota (SCF) has purchased three nursing skills mannequins thanks to a $2,850 grant from The Plantation Community Foundation of Venice, Florida.
The nursing program purchased three KERI Patient Manikins, specifically designed for medical programs with lifelike range of motion and realistic patient positioning, to be used on the SCF Venice campus. The mannequins are a vital training tool in the nursing program.
(07-21-2016) SCF, Manatee-Sarasota Named a Healthy Business Certified Leader
Health Links has designated State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) a Healthy Business Certified Leader.
To become a certified leader, SCF had to provide evidence-based benchmarks for health and safety programs that reach all College employees. For example, more than 95 percent of employees participated in the College's confidential health risk assessment program. Employees who participate can receive a discount on their insurance premiums.
(07-19-2016) SCF, Manatee-Sarasota Workforce Solutions Offers Export Financing Seminar
State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) is offering an export financing seminar in conjunction with the Sarasota County and Bradenton-area Economic Development Corporations, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 25 at SCF Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Pkwy. E.
The half-day seminar will offer exporters basic tools to understand how to finance their exports, including letters of credit as financial and banking instruments, mitigating export risk with commercial credit and political risk insurance, and state and federal government lending programs available.
(07-14-2016) SCF, Manatee-Sarasota Student Receives Capstone Award to Present Research
State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) student Dominick Christou-Ader was one of just 18 undergraduate students in the United States to win a $1,500 Capstone Travel Award to present his research
As part of his award, Christou-Ader was invited to attend the Research Capstone Institute in Boston. Christou-Ader who studied natural science and biotechnology at SCF is transferring to Florida Southern College in the Fall, where he will continue working on the research he began at SCF. Attending the Institute will offer him several advantages as he continues his studies and research. Eventually he would like to earn a medical degree.
(07-14-2016) SCF, Manatee-Sarasota Paralegal Students Receive Internships
Six students from State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota's (SCF) paralegal program are spending their summer getting experience with area law offices, including the public defender's office in Sarasota and private attorneys in Bradenton, Sarasota Palmetto and Punta Gorda.
The SCF student interns and their assignment are: • Michael A. Gonzalez; Kowtko Law Firm in Sarasota. • Angela Miller; Kallins, Little, Delgado in Palmetto. • Tim Neidert and Naomi McMillan; the Sarasota County Public Defender's Office. • Matthew Pierce; the Farr Law Firm in Punta Gorda. • Corynne Pratt; Fowler Law Group, Sarasota and Bradenton.
(07-12-2016) SCF Bookstore to Host Harry Potter Book Release Party
The bookstore at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host a midnight release party for the latest Harry Potter book, "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I & II."
The party will begin at 9 p.m. July 30 at the Bradenton campus bookstore in building 14, 5840 26th St. W.
(07-12-2016) SCF, Manatee-Sarasota Graduate Wins Three Awards at National Conference
Elizabeth Anne Miller recently capped off her SCF studies by bringing home three awards from the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) National Leadership Conference.
Miller, who graduated in May, took first place in Entrepreneurship Concepts and Agribusiness at the national conference in Atlanta. She also brought home fourth-place honors in Information Management. Phi Beta Lambda is dedicated to helping students build their business leadership skills. The organization hosts annual regional, state and national competitions.
