Family Heritage House Museum Hosts Peace Corps
(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 20, 2009) - A celebration of Peace Corps Week will be hosted 12:30 to 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Family Heritage House Museum at Manatee Community College (MCC), 5840 26th St. West, Bradenton. This presentation is free and open to the public. Reservations are not needed.
MCC employees Kristen Anderson, Robert Donovan and Matthew Keirle will share their experiences as Peace Corps volunteers in Niger, Brazil and Paraguay. Museum Specialist Anita Rogers also will speak about her Peace Corps service in the 1960s in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Since 1960, more than 195,000 Peace Corps volunteers have served in 139 countries, advancing education, water access, health, agriculture, environmental conservation, business, community development and information technology for millions.
