Carol Sparrow and Randolph Locke Perform at MCC
(Bradenton, Fla., Jan. 12, 2009) - Mezzo soprano Carol Sparrow and tenor Randolph Locke, Manatee Community College music faculty members, will present an evening of popular and operatic favorites at 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 15, in Neel Performing Arts Center, located off 26th Street at 60th Avenue West, MCC Bradenton. They will be accompanied by fellow faculty member Lurray Myers.
The husband-and-wife team of Locke and Sparrow has performed with major opera houses and orchestras, including in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, Sante Fe, Mexico City, Berlin, Stuttgart, Hong Kong and Amsterdam. Locke and Sparrow also have been featured performers for Cunard Cruise Lines in more than 100 concerts including aboard the Queen Elizabeth II.
A recent review in the Durham Herald-Sun aptly describes a performance by Locke and Sparrow: "Throughout the evening, Carol Sparrow sang with supreme musicianship and incredible intonation. Matching her performance was Randolph Locke, whose big, ringing tenor voice filled the theater. That Ms. Sparrow and Mr. Locke are husband and wife in real life no doubt adds to the heat they produce on stage."
General admission for the concert is $8. Admission is $4 for Florida students and MCC staff. For more information, call the Neel Box Office at (941) 752-5252. For directions to Neel Performing Arts Center, visit MCC's Web site at mccfl.edu/Maps.
