Pulitzer Prize Novelist to Visit SCF Venice

(Bradenton, Fla., October 9, 2009) - Pulitzer Prize winner Robert Olen Butler will read from his newly released novel, "Hell," 2 p.m., Nov. 12, at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail. The event is free and open to the public.

Sponsored by Swamp Scribes, the creative writing club at SCF Venice, the event is an effort to promote interest in literary arts among students and the community.

A unique, contemporary reimaging of themes found in "Dante's Inferno," the book is a story of an evening news reporter who interviews other well-known characters he finds in hell.

Butler, who lectures at universities and conferences, is author of Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, "A Good Scent from a Strange Mountain." He also wrote "On Distant Ground," "The Deuce," and short story, "Jealous Husband Returns in Form of Parrot."

Butler will be available to sign autographs of his book on sale at the event.
