SCF and South Florida Museum to Present 1950s Films

(Bradenton, Fla., October 9, 2009) - State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), in partnership with the South Florida Museum, will present a series of movie classes, "The Cinema Experience:  Films of the 1950s," throughout October and November.

Six featured films from Hollywood's Golden Era will be shown 6-9:30 p.m., Tuesday, at South Florida Museum, 201 10th St. West, Bradenton:

  • Oct. 13, Sunset Boulevard
  • Oct. 20, A Star is Born
  • Oct. 27, Rebel Without a Cause
  • Nov.3, A Face in the Crowd 
  • Nov. 10, Rio Bravo
  • Nov. 17, Pillow Talk                         

Films will be introduced by Del Jacobs, SCF multimedia/film program manager. Movie previews will contain original programming of the era, including newsreels, cartoons, short subjects, previews of coming attractions and more.  A brief discussion will follow the movie.

The fee for the series is $99 and $35 for an individual film. South Florida Museum members receive a discount rate at $65 for the series and $20 for an individual film.
