SCF Music Faculty Joyce Valentine Presents Piano Concert
(Bradenton, Fla., October 7, 2009) - Joyce Valentine, State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) adjunct music instructor, will present a piano concert at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 13, in the Neel Performing Arts Center at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West.
Valentine's performance will feature works by Domenico
Scarlatti, Frederic Chopin, Ludwig van Beethoven and
Alberto Ginastera. She will be accompanied by guest artist
Jerome Butler, a double bass soloist who has performed with
the Bachanalia Festival Orchestra in Lincoln Center's Alice
Tully Hall.
In 1983, Valentine debuted in Carnegie Recital Hall.
The New York Times called her performance of Ginastera's
Sonata No.1 "brisk, centered, propulsive and altogether
thrilling." Valentine also has performed as a soloist with
the Kansas City Philharmonic, the Hartford Symphony
Orchestra and the New Haven Symphony
Orchestra.
Her original music and arrangements for piano and
cello have been recorded on an album titled, "Reunion,"
created for Yamaha Corporation's Mark III Disklavier
piano.She has a bachelor's degree from the Julliard School
of Music and a master's degree from University of Missouri
Conservatory of Music.
