SCF Family Heritage House Presents Junkanoo Exhibit
(Bradenton, Fla., September 23, 2009) - An exhibit of costumes from Junkanoo, a cultural event held in The Bahamas, is on display at the Family Heritage House Museum at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF). A reception for the exhibit will be held 5 - 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 29, at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
The reception will feature a panel discussion about Junkanoo, a modern Bahamian parade showcasing music and costumes. Panel participants include Jane Smith, owner of the exhibit, and Dr. Louis Robison, a local resident who will share childhood experiences of celebrating the event with his family in The Bahamas.
