MCC Earth Club Sets Recycling Record

To raise awareness about the importance of recycling on Earth Day, Manatee Community College (MCC) Earth Club students led a successful community-wide drive to set a record for the most plastic bottles counted in an eight-hour period. By the end of the day, organizers collected 41,100 plastic bottles. An unofficial tabulation indicated that the bottle count weight of more than 4,020 pounds far surpassed the current official weight record of 657 pounds, setting a new record. The final results will be submitted to Guinness World Records™.
