MCC Brain Bowl Team Places 14th in the Nation

(Bradenton, Fla., March 26, 2009) - The Manatee Community College (MCC) Brain Bowl team finished the season as the 14th best quiz team in the nation at the 2009 Community College Championship Tournament held February 27-28 at Valencia Community College in Orlando, Fla.

MCC's Brain Bowl team was one of just 24 two-year college teams from around the country invited to participate in the national competition sponsored by National Academic Quiz Tournaments.

"It's an honor to be invited to compete in the national tournament, and this outstanding team earned their good ranking," Cole said.

Team members Aaron Pennington and Logan Witt were the 22nd and 24th highest scorers out of 107 participants. Brain Bowl coach and advisor, Carole Cole, credited Pennington, Witt, and other team members competing in the tournament -- Angela Bruno, Aaron Summers and Holly Forrester -- with turning in a balanced effort in representing MCC.
