Elliott Named Director of Library Services at MCC(Bradenton, Fla., Dec. 9, 2008) - Tracy Elliott has been named director of library services at Manatee Community College (MCC) and will assume her new position Jan. 5.
At MCC, Elliott will be responsible for the management, coordination and integration of library and academic services with information and learning technologies, and she will plan, direct and oversee all aspects of the college-wide library services division.
Elliott most recently was head librarian at the West St. Petersburg Community Library, located on St. Petersburg College Gibbs campus, where she managed a joint-use library in partnership with the St. Petersburg Public Library System.
Previously, during her tenure as dean of learning resources at Rappahannock Community College, Warsaw, Va., Elliott oversaw a multi-agency library, focusing on using technology to increase productivity and cost benefits. Her efforts earned her the Technology in Education Award from the Virginia Community College System.
Elliott's experience managing joint-use libraries and her expertise in technology will be helpful as MCC, under President Dr. Lars A. Hafner, explores local partnerships and greater utilization of technology.
Elliott has a master's degree in library and information studies and a bachelor's in communication from Florida State University, Tallahassee.
