MCC Music Program Holds Scholarship Auditions
(Bradenton, Fla., March 25, 2008) - The Manatee Community College (MCC) Music Program will hold auditions for current and new students seeking scholarships on Saturday, April 26, at MCC Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West. In addition to showcasing their talents, participants will learn about what MCC's program has to offer. Beginning at 9 a.m. in the Student Union, building 14, events include a campus tour and meetings with faculty.
A new state-of-the-art Music and Theatre Building will open this August. MCC's Music Program features performing ensembles that include concert and chamber choirs, vocal performance workshop, orchestra, and wind, jazz and guitar ensembles. Classes and applied music lessons are offered for musicians of all ages. Students perform on and off campus, and ensemble tours take students to regional as well as foreign locations. The program's faculty consists of more than 30 leading professional musicians and music educators. In addition, the MCC Music Program hosts local, national and international performers in recitals and master classes. The Neel Performing Arts Center features a nine-foot Steinway concert grand piano and a 50-rank pipe organ.
