Chemistry Professors Present Magical Road Show
(Bradenton, Fla., March 6, 2008) - A chemical demonstration road show that challenges the audience to decide "Is it Chemistry or Magic?" will take place at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, in room 106, building 29, at Manatee Community College (MCC) Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West.
Created by University of Illinois Emeritus Professor Otis Rothenberger and Professor Jim Webb, the informative and fun demonstration is sponsored by the MCC chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and is free and open to the public. For more than 25 years, the demonstration has been affiliated with the ACS, Chemical Industries Council of Illinois, Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, and the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. It has been shown at public schools, colleges and universities in 20 states and to more than 20,000 audience members.
Rothenberger taught and coordinated the Liberal Arts Chemistry course for nonscience majors at Illinois State University, Normal, Ill., and currently teaches at Heartland Community College, also in Normal. Webb teaches and is coordinator of liberal arts chemistry and general chemistry labs at Illinois State University.
