MCC OTA Program Manager Awarded Leadership Fellowship
(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 19, 2008) - Debra Chasanoff, director of the Manatee Community College (MCC) Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Program, has been awarded a Leadership Fellowship from the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and the American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF).
The AOTA and AOTF work together to address the critical need for strong occupational therapy leaders within the academic community and to build the profession's capacity to influence and lead. Chasanoff is participating in a Leadership Mentoring Program conducted by the Mentoring Company. The program began in January and will end in September at a meeting in Denver, Colo.
Chasanoff came to MCC in 1997 to develop the OTA program, graduates of which have a 100 percent pass rate on the national certification examination. Prior awards include an Award of Recognition for her outstanding contribution to her field from the Florida Occupational Therapy Association and a National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award.
Chasanoff has a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from Quinnipiac College, Hamden, Conn., and a master's in education from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J.
