Euphonium Virtuoso to Perform in Neel
(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 13, 2008) - An internationally known euphonium virtuoso with a large collection of recordings to his credit, Adam Frey will perform at 8 p.m., Thursday, March 6, in Neel Performing Arts Center, located off 26th Street at 60th Avenue West, Manatee Community College (MCC) Bradenton. Frey will perform with MCC ensembles, BandTastic Winds and Stringergy directed by Dr. Daniel Steiger.
Frey has performed solo and with orchestras, wind and brass bands all over the world, including the world-famous Boston Pops, Cheju Symphony Orchestra in South Korea, wind bands from Singapore, Germany and Hong Kong. He has been a featured soloist on BBC Radio 2 and Swiss Cable Radio. Critics praise his charismatic personality as well as his technical prowess.
More than 60 works have been composed or specifically arranged for Frey, who has published articles about the euphonium internationally. He is assistant editor of the "Euphonium Source Book" text and president of The Euphonium Foundation Inc., a nonprofit established to support the euphonium. He also teaches as an adjunct professor at Georgia State University and artist affiliate with Emory University.
