Holiday Ceramics Sale in New Art & Design Building
(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 30, 2007) - Visitors will have an opportunity to purchase ceramics made by Manatee Community College (MCC) students and faculty from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7, in the new Art and Design Building, number 10, at MCC Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West.
MCC's Annual Holiday Ceramics Show and Sale features one-of-a-kind stoneware, raku and porcelain works to be sold on-site. Local customers may order custom-made pieces to be delivered prior to Christmas. Proceeds will benefit the MCC Ceramics Program.
Visitors also will have an opportunity to view art and other amenities in the $5.5 million, two-story Art and Design Building that opened in time for the beginning of the Fall 2007 term. The building houses faculty and support-staff offices, film classroom, lecture room, sculpture studio, and ceramic labs on the first floor. On the second level are a drawing/design lab; drawing/painting lab; graphic design labs with state-of-the-art computer and audiovisual equipment; a photography suite with classroom, computer lab, darkrooms and photo-shooting studio; and a finishing room for matting, framing and dry-mounting. A covered pavilion houses kilns, clay mixers, clay storage area, ceramic glazing materials and welding equipment.
