C-Span Book TV Bus Coming to MCC Venice

The C-Span Book TV Bus, a 45-foot traveling production studio and media demonstration center, will be open for tours from 9 to 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 1,  in the parking lot in front of the Professional Development Center, building 800, at Manatee Community College (MCC) Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail. Comcast and C-Span co-sponsored travel of the bright orange custom coach bus to this area for the Nov. 3 Sarasota Reading Festival.

The bus is outfitted with a live production studio and cable casting technology as well as a high-definition flat screen. Visitors touring the bus have the opportunity to see a state-of-the-art studio set, see an interactive demonstration about Book TV programming and learn how a television show is produced.

Book TV is the only network on television that features 48 hours of nonfiction book programming each week. Every weekend on C-Span 2, starting at 8 a.m. ET on Saturday and continuing to 8 a.m. ET on Monday, a variety of nonfiction topics are explored, including history, biography, politics, current events, the media and more. Content includes author interviews, readings, panels and coverage of the nation's largest book festivals. In 2005, more than 1,000 nonfiction authors were featured in more than 2,500 hours of Book TV programming.
