Look for Pinwheels for Peace at Bradenton

The MCC Bradenton Phi Theta Kappa honor society and Boys and Girls Club of Bradenton combined efforts to promote The International Day of Peace, Friday, Sept. 21. Pinwheels for Peace decorate MCC Bradenton along 26th Street and will remain in place until Sept. 24. Phi Theta Kappa members worked with the club to make and display the pinwheels.

Established by a United Nations resolution in 1981, the International Day of Peace was first celebrated in September 1982. Last year, more than 3,500 Peace Day events took place in 20 countries. More than 1,350 schools and groups created and displayed ½ million pinwheels for peace.

The promotions are intended to mark individual and collective progress toward building cultures of peace and serve as a reminder of the need for a permanent commitment to peace
