Studio 84 Presents "The Dining Room"
Manatee Community College Studio 84 Productions will present "The Dining Room," a series of inter-related stories taking place in the central meeting place for an intriguing cast of upper-middle-class white, Anglo-Saxon Protestants (WASPs), at 8 p.m., Oct. 5 and 6, in the Chamber Theatre, located to the right of the main entrance to Neel Performing Arts Center off 26th Street at 60th Avenue West, MCC Bradenton.
Directed by Dean Anthony, the play by A.R. Gurney features 14 actors and actresses who change roles, personalities and ages to create a touching and funny portrait of a WASP family, a vanishing species. In a room where the family once assembled for meals and all special occasions, the characters take on the personas of little boys, stern grandfathers, giggling teenage girls and immigrant housemaids.
Cast members are Kyle Biss, Kira Borrowdale, Colin Brady, Aaron Charnell, Joshua Fishbein, Molly Healy, Ann Hendricks, Victoria Rose Hoppe, Rick Hopper, Megan Kroger, Gilbert Ortiz, Mariana Rocha, Dayton Sinkia and Katelyn Studer.
The 59-seat Chamber Theatre Box Office opens an hour before each performance. General admission is $10. Tickets are $5 for Florida students and MCC staff. For more information, call (941) 752-5252.
