MCC Among 100 Top Associate Degree Producers in Nation
(Bradenton, Fla., July 24, 2007) --Manatee Community College (MCC) was named among the top 50 nursing associate degree producers in the nation, and among the top 100 associate degree producers in all disciplines, in a special report published in July by Community College Week magazine.
The national biweekly magazine for community, technical and junior colleges listed two- and four-year institutions that were surveyed. Results are based on data gathered by the U.S. Department of Education. MCC was ranked 43rd on the magazine's Top 50 associate degrees in nursing list and 90th on the top 100 list for all disciplines.
MCC has awarded an annual average of 973 degrees and certificates since the 1996-97 academic year. In the 2005-06 academic year, a total of 166 nursing degrees were awarded and a total 1,273 degrees and certificates in all disciplines were awarded.
"Area health care institutions in dire need of qualified nurses asked for and supported the expansion of MCC's Nursing Program. With enrollment growing steadily, an established college goal is to keep all students on track toward graduation. The fact that we're among the top producers of graduates tells us we are successfully responding to community needs and achieving our goal," said MCC President Dr. Sarah H. Pappas.
