Students Present Short Plays in Summer Production

(Bradenton, Fla., June 5, 2007) - Manatee Community College students will perform a series of short plays in a Monu-Mental production that promises to deliver both whimsy and wisdom at 8 p.m., June 14, 15 and 16, in the John W. James Studio Theatre, located off 26th Street at 60th Avenue West, MCC Bradenton.

Twelve of the plays in MCC's production of Monu-Mental were commissioned for a festival of new American plays by Actor's Theatre of Louisville in March 2002. The playwrights based each of their plays on a famous picture of the stone faces of four of America's most beloved presidents at Mount Rushmore. MCC's summer production also features five new plays written by MCC students and faculty.

Director Dean Anthony said the results will invoke thought, consent, dissent and laughter. Members of the MCC cast are Kyle Biss, Kira Borrowdale, Rae Crider, Joshua D. Fishbein, Emalee Gabriel, Stephen Hoda, Victoria Rose Hoppe, Rick Hopper, Megan Kroger, Cassandra Magnuson, Hannah Niles, Shea O'Neil, Mariana Rocha, Dayton Sinkia, Aly Taylor and Robert Denis Xaixoui.

Due to adult language, the play is recommended for ages 16 or older. General admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. For more information or to reserve tickets, call (941) 752-5252.
