Honor Society Members Recognized at International Convention

(Bradenton, Fla., May 9, 2007) - Manatee Community College (MCC) student Wesley Pitts Jr. and faculty member Dr. Joni Pirnot were recognized at the Phi Theta Kappa honor society's 90th International Convention held April 12 through 14 in Nashville, Tenn. Pitts was named one of 30 International Distinguished Chapter Officers and Pirnot was named one of 30 International Paragon Advisors.

 Pitts served as executive vice president of Nu Zeta, the MCC Bradenton chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, and as Florida Region Vice President of Service. He expects to graduate in the spring of 2008. Pirnot, an assistant professor in the MCC mathematics department, has been the chapter advisor since 2002.

The MCC chapter is an International Five Star Chapter, which is the highest recognition bestowed on chapter programs by Phi Theta Kappa.
