Circle K Club Wins District Awards

(Bradenton, Fla., March 27, 2007) - The Manatee Community College (MCC) Circle K Club was named the Florida District Circle K "Club of the Year" and the club and its members won seven other first-place awards at a district convention held Feb. 23 through 25 in Orlando. The MCC Bradenton club won a total of 13 awards. Two members were elected to office and a third was endorsed to run for an international office.

In addition to being named Club of the Year, the MCC club received Total Club Achievement, Outstanding Club Improvement, Interclub, Monthly Report Banner Patch and Suncoast Division of the Year first-place awards. The club also received a third-place Single Service award. Officers who won awards include Brian Rigney, Outstanding Lieutenant Governor, first place; Krystal Weaver, Outstanding Secretary, first place; Alex Garner, Outstanding Club President, second place; Erin Garner, Outstanding Treasurer, second place; Joanie Been, Outstanding Vice President, third place;  and Justina Uhran, Outstanding Newsletter, third place.

Garner was named Florida district governor. James Eisele is Suncoast Division lieutenant governor and Rigney was endorsed to run for international office.

The MCC Circle K Club is sponsored by local Kiwanis clubs and provides students with opportunities to interact with professionals in the business community and participated in organized volunteer service activities. Associate Professor Jacqueline Ernst is the club's advisor.
