Cello & Piano Duo Perform in Neel

(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 15, 2007) - Duo Vivo, the acclaimed cello and piano duo of Manatee Community College (MCC) faculty members Sasha von Dassow and Joyce Valentine, will perform Beethoven's Bei Mannern Variations, Chopin's famous Sonata Op. 49, Lloyd-Webber's Variations 1-4 and other classical works at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 27, in Neel Performing Arts Center, located off 26th Street at 60th Avenue West.

Von Dassow is director of the North Port Orchestra. a member of Florida Orchestra and a founding member of the Musicians Out of the Box string quartet, which released Music Tales for children. He has performed as a soloist for Florida West Coast Symphony and Sarasota Pops. Works have been written for him by William Sydeman, Ted Dollarhide and Rex Willis and he was a featured performer in scores for two independent movies, Southernmost Point and The Ghosts of Ybor.

A graduate of the prestigious Juilliard School of Music, New York, Valentine performed as a soloist in Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center as the winner of a Julliard piano competition. Her debut in Carnegie Hall earned rave reviews.  In addition to solo concerts nationwide, Valentine is an active chamber music performer and has released two recordings.
