Learn About Teaching Certification Prep Program
(Bradenton, Fla., Jan. 25, 2007) - Manatee Community College (MCC) will host an information session about its teaching certification preparation program, for noneducation majors with at least a bachelor's degree, at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13, in the Selby Room, number 116/117, in the Center for Innovation and Technology at MCC Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Parkway East.
After finishing all courses in the program and passing required state and college exams, participants will receive certificates of completion that make them eligible for the Florida Department of Education's professional teaching certificate. Evening and weekend scheduling of classes allows working professionals to participate. The cost of MCC's alternative certification program (ACP) is approximately $2,000.
MCC was one of the first colleges to develop an ACP when the programs were authorized by the Florida Legislature in an attempt to address the state's critical teacher shortage.
