Seminars at MCC - on China & on Global Warming

(Bradenton, Fla., Jan. 22, 2007) - Author/editor Diana Milesko will present separate seminars on "The Many Faces of China" and on the effects of "Global Warming" at MCC Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Parkway East.

Seminars are scheduled:

  • "The Many Faces of China," 10 a.m., Feb. 13, room 135, MCC Lakewood Ranch; and
  • "Global Warming," 1 p.m., Feb. 13, room 135, MCC Lakewood Ranch.

Milesko, an avid traveler and teacher, wrote the book, Bicycling the Midwest, and was a correspondent/editor for the Chicago Tribune's Outdoors section. The former owner of a publishing company, Milesko has served as consultant, speaker, producer and editor to businesses and government, and taught in high schools and universities.

While visiting China in May 2006, Milesko found a fascinating juxtaposition of the old and the new in a country trying to manage spectacular growth and deal with massive pollution problems. She will explore the culture, history and beauty of the ever-evolving country and discuss its probable impact on the world in her presentation at MCC. In a separate presentation, Milesko will discuss her research and observations about global warming. She will explore the economic, political, societal and scientific issues surrounding it, and what individuals can do about it.

The cost of each seminar is $10. For more information or to register, call MCC Corporate and Community Development at (941) 752-5203.
