See Film About Global Warming at Venice

(Venice, Fla., Jan. 16, 2007) - Free screenings and discussions of former Vice President Al Gore's film about global warming, An Inconvenient Truth, will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 29, and at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, in room 307 of the Library, at Manatee Community College (MCC) Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail. The screenings are scheduled as part of a five-day "Week of Action" that calls upon American and Canadian youth to draw attention to a  "Rising to the Climate Challenge: Visions of Our Future" campaign.

Colleges around the nation are screening the film, which was a Sundance Film Festival hit that dramatically raised awareness about the possible impacts of global warming. The MCC Venice screenings are sponsored by MCC's office of student activities, the Student Government Association, Progressive Club, Environmental Trekkers, Swamp Scribes, History and Political Science clubs.

The screenings are open to the public. For more information, e-mail Dr. Doug Ford at
