Readings of Classic Pride and Prejudice
(Bradenton, Fla., Jan. 5, 2007) - Local actor Carolyn Zaput will read from Jane Austen's classic book, Pride and Prejudice, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesdays, through March 21, in the library at Manatee Community College (MCC) Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West. Zaput, an interlibrary loan assistant at MCC, is leading the group sessions as part of the Beyond the Book educational outreach project sponsored by the Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice and Asolo Rep (Repertory) Theatre. The readings at MCC are free and open to the public. Audiences are invited to listen or participate.
The Asolo Rep, in cooperation with several local organizations, agencies, libraries and bookstores, launched the Beyond the Book project to inspire reading, literacy and community connection on Florida's Gulf Coast. Events will include a stage production at the Asolo Rep, book discussion groups and film adaptations.
Zaput has performed on area stages that include the Asolo Rep, Florida Studio Theatre, Theatreworks, American Stage, Gypsy Productions, Manatee Players, Island Players and others.
