MCC Hosts Scholarship Flea Market
(Bradenton, Fla., Dec. 1, 2006 ) - The Manatee Community College (MCC) Student Government Association (SGA) and No Name Tennis Club will host the 21st Annual Scholarship Flea Market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 20, in the parking lot at 26th Street and 60th Avenue at MCC Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West. SGA and the No Name Tennis Club will sell small, donated items and space is rented to those who want to sell items for their own profit. Proceeds from the annual fundraiser provide scholarships for MCC students with special needs. Last year, more than $4,000 was raised.
The No Name Tennis Club is a group of retired American and Canadian tennis enthusiasts who play daily on MCC tennis courts. Members of the club serve on the SGA Single Parent Scholarship Committee that also includes MCC students and faculty. The recipient of 1999 and 2002 state of Florida's Bob Graham Community College Distinguished Service awards, the club also assists at SGA-sponsored cookouts.
