MCC joined with nine community agencies to launch the Early Success Community Developmental Screening project, a collaborative effort under the umbrella of Whole Child Project Manatee Partners. Eighteen children participated in the first screenings held in October at Samoset Elementary School. Professionals were assisted by students in MCC's Occupational Therapy Assistant and Nursing programs. The screenings, designed to determine a child's strengths and evaluate developmental challenges, focus on hearing, vision, speech, developmental wellness, social and emotional health, and gross and fine motor skills.
Participating agencies include Community Haven for Adults and Children With Disabilities, Easter Seals Children's Therapy Center, Gulf Central Early Steps Program, Healthy Start, Manatee Glens, Mary Simpson Strong Full Service Family Center, Pediatric Therapy Group, Resource Connection for Kids and the School Board of Manatee County.
