MCC Students Excel in Press Association Competition

(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 8, 2006) - Manatee Community College (MCC) students and Pentangle humanities magazine staff won six awards and an honorable mention in a Florida Community College Press Association Division conference held in Fort Lauderdale in October.

Individual winners are Angela Marshall, first place, illustration with text; Carey Borden, second place, art; Mark Rush, Tiffany Krause and Mark Stonehouse, second place, photography; Aaron Beasley, Jenna Kedzierski and Sharon Thomas, third place, poetry; Sadaf Din and Liz Ford-Coates, third place, artworks; Stephanie Knox, third place, poem. The Pentangle staff won an honorable mention for the cover.

Pentangle staff members are Thomas Aposporos, Jared Kelly, Lacey Hurt, Wislie Gilles, Bridget Wheeler, Tanya Baird, Alisha Conrad and Mark Stonehouse. Faculty advisors are instructors Courtney Ruffner and Suzanne Keyworth.  Art consultant is Joe Loccisano. The magazine is published annually in the spring.
