Etchings, Acrylics & Linens in Venice Exhibit
(Venice, Fla., Nov. 7, 2006) - Hand-colored etchings, acrylic paintings and fine linens by local artists Carol Swayze and Sandee Kreppein will be displayed in an exhibit that continues through Dec. 8 in the Manatee Community College (MCC) Venice Fine Art Gallery, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail.
Swayze established and created the annual Englewood Fine Arts Festival. In appreciation of her community work, the Englewood Rotary Club established the Carol Swayze Art Scholarship, which is awarded annually to an art student graduating from Lemon Bay High School. Swayze's hand-colored etchings and acrylic paintings are in public and private collections worldwide. An instructor at the Englewood Art Center, she also teaches workshops for the Boca Grande Art Alliance. Kreppein is a self-taught acrylics artist who specializes in hand-painted linens painted with a tiny brush. All her work is washable.
