Faculty Exhibit Opens Dec. 1
(Bradenton, Fla., Sept. 11, 2006) - An opening reception for Manatee Community College's Annual Art Faculty Exhibition will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1, in the fine art gallery at MCC Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West. The exhibit showcases a broad range of artworks by MCC full-time and adjunct instructors. Refreshments will be served and the reception is free and open to the public.
Artists displaying their work include Ted Camp, Sherri Hill, Joseph Loccisano, Pam Stewart, Jamie Tracey, Drew Webster and Sue Wyar. The exhibit will showcase ceramics, sculpture, graphics, photography, painting and printmaking. Loccisano, gallery manager, said the annual faculty exhibit provides an opportunity for talented MCC faculty to teach by example.
"I like the idea of the faculty coming to the students with an artist-to-artist approach versus the typical classroom approach," said art student Nemanja Popovic.
The exhibit continues through Jan. 11. The gallery will be closed for the college's winter break Dec. 18 through Jan. 1. Regular gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call (941) 752-5251.
