MCC Board Re-Elects Chair & Vice-Chair
(Bradenton, Fla., Aug. 18, 2006) - The Manatee Community College (MCC) District Board of Trustees in its August meeting re-elected Francis I. "Rip" duPont as chairman and Stephen K. Boone as vice-chair of the board.
DuPont, a Bradenton resident, was initially appointed by Gov. Jeb Bush in 1999 and has served as board chair since then. The area president for Whitney National Bank, he also serves as chair of Manatee Chamber of Commerce and is on the St. Stephens Episcopal School's board of directors. He is a former chair of United Way of Manatee County and formerly served on the Florida Bankers Association board of directors.
Boone, a Venice native, was appointed to the MCC board by Bush in May 2002 and will be serving as vice-chairman for the fourth time. An attorney with the firm of Boone, Boone, Boone, Koda and Frook, P.A., he is chairman of the Venice Area Real Estate Council and a former president and current member of the Venice Advisory Board for the Boys and Girls Club of Sarasota County. Boone also is a member of the Coalition to Support Assisted Living and Venice-Nokomis Rotary Club and a past president of the Venice Area Chamber of Commerce. He has served on the Foundation for MCC Board of Directors.
Gov. Jeb Bush reappointed duPont and Boone to the MCC Board in March for terms ending May 31, 2010.
