MCC Offers Online Class Leading to Fitness Trainer Certificate
(Bradenton, Fla., May 18, 2006) - Manatee Community College (MCC) Corporate and Community Development will launch a new online Professional Certificate in Personal Fitness Training program May 29.
According to a U.S. Department of Labor Bureau publication, Occupational Outlook Handbook, overall employment for personal trainers is expected to increase by 44 percent by 2012. The interactive Web-based certificate program is for those seeking to start a career in the emerging fitness/health industry, as well as for established fitness professionals seeking advanced education, and allied health and medical professionals who wish to become full- or part-time personal trainers/fitness instructors. The certificate and elective internship course will be offered three times per year. A field internship course is optional.
Graduates of the certificate program, offered in partnership with the American Council on Exercise® (ACE), will be eligible to receive a preferred discount on the ACE Personal Training Certification Exam and study materials. Current ACE-certified professionals who complete the courses will earn ACE continuing education credits toward recertification.
