SCOPEXHIBIT in MCC Bradenton Fine Art Gallery
(Bradenton, Fla., May 16, 2006) - Art tells the story of how residents rate the quality of life in Sarasota County in a SCOPEXHIBIT: Community Thru ART that continues through June 19 in the fine art gallery at MCC Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West. The exhibit features 19 black-and-white illustrations and descriptive indicators with graphs and charts that illustrate results found in the Sarasota County Openly Plans for Excellence (SCOPE) Community Report Card.
SCOPE, a citizen-led organization, addresses issues that are important to county residents and produces data reports on the quality of life in order to create positive change. Local artists from Ringling School of Art and Design transformed information found in statistics, charts and reports into fresh and insightful sketches and public service advertisements. The artists illustrate current community indicators that provide insight into the positive vitality and growth occurring in Sarasota County. Issues addressed include mental health, housing prices, school dropouts and tourism.
Regular gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to noon, Friday. For more information, call (941) 752-5225.
