MCC Studio 84 Presents Albee Play & Celebrates 40th Anniversary
(Bradenton, Fla., April 6, 2006) - Manatee Community College (MCC) Studio 84 Productions will present Edward Albee's dark comedy-drama, Everything in the Garden, at 8 p.m., April 14, 15 and 20 through 22, and at 2 p.m., April 15, in the John W. James Studio Theatre, located off 26th Street at 60th Avenue West, MCC Bradenton. The play concludes the MCC Theatre Program's 40-year anniversary.
Called a "delicious drama of desperate housewives" by director Kenneth Erickson Jr., the play explores what a middle-class suburban couple is willing to gamble to maintain a rich lifestyle while drowning in debt. Albee blends humor, irony and suspense as main characters Jenny and Richard decide how far they'll go for money. Albee is the winner of three Pulitzer prizes and three Tony awards, including a 2005 Lifetime Achievement Award.
MCC students Molly Healy and Joshua Fishbein play Jenny and Richard. Two other leading roles are alternately performed by Ben Adams and Ryan Dowd Urch (as Jack) and Kali Blankenship and Moira Carroll (as Mrs. Tooth). Other cast members are Paul Bigley, Kelly Clark, Adam Condor, Nathan James, Hunter Kallenbach, K.S. Klos and Stephanie Troyer.
In recognition of the MCC program's 40th anniversary, audience members also will enjoy a delectable desserts, included in the admission price, at intermission. General admission is $12.
